Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
As per the Press Information Bureau report, there are 13,86,150 registered allopathic doctors in India. Owing to the increasing population of our country, the requirement of medical care has also gone up. Due to this reason, medicine has emerged as a field which would never run out of work. The full form of MBBS is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. The MBBS course duration is 5.5 years at an undergraduate level and is opted by those individuals who aspire to be doctors in the medical field.
There is just one examination required for taking admission in MBBS course, which is NEET UG and it is regarded as one of the most difficult exams in India. There are around 22 to 23 Lakh candidates who give NEET UG exam and just 3 percent manage to get a government seat.
The eligibility criteria include clearing 12th (PCB) and NEET UG exams. Fees for MBBS courses range from INR 25,000 to INR 25 Lakh. Colleges for MBBS include AIIMS Delhi, CMC, KGMU, etc.
The MBBS course is 5.5-year UG programme which is usully opted by candidates who wish to become doctors. The course is divided in multiple semesters which are a balance of theoretical as well as practical sessions. The MBBS course helps candidates learn about medicine, basic knowledge about surgery and how to treat patients effectively.
The MBBS course is not offered in online or part-time mode since the curriculum is very rigorous and physical attendance is must for every semester. Further, the MBBS course is divided into three phases which are Pre Clinical, Para Clinical and Clinical. After the course, candidates are also go through a Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI). The internship lasts for approx. 12 months. Once the candidate has done their internship and passed their National Exit Test (NExT) exam, they will be get the degree.
